I was fortunate enough to squeeze in a quick overnighter at my local syndicate last night, i got there straight from work in the pouring down rain and was not best pleased.. However i managed to get into the swim i was hoping too.. I was very confident in this swim as i have been baiting spots within it, first job was to set the bivvy up because it was hammering down!! so up went the Nash Titan Brolly, within a few a minutes i was all tucked in and dry.. I began to put baits on my rigs hoping the rain would eventually ease.. Sure enough after 30 mins it stopped and i was able to ping my rods out.. I managed to hit the spots after only a few casts and was angling with all 3 rods in no time.. After getting my crib set up and comfy for the evening my brother Callum kindly dropped down a chinese for me... Just as i was finishing eating my middle rods tonned off ... Unfortunately after a 15 minute fight my Size 4 Fang Twister Hook putted right at the net...After a bit of a rant i got the rod back out on the spot and knew there was a real good chance of another fish off the same rod... After sitting back and watching the sun go down everything looked perfect and i was sure i was good to have some action in the night.. Sure enough 11.30 my left hand rod let rip and after a 10 minute battle a lower 20lb common braced my net...
I was off the mark and confident that this pristine Common would have been the only one of the night.. My Left hand Rod was only a flick out so it didn't take long to reset the trap... I got back into my warm Frostbite Sub 20 Sleeping bag and got my head down.... But not for long 12.30 come along and my middle rod belted off again... This time it was fighting like a better fish holding bottom very well and plodding.. After a 25 minute battle a very big common broke the surface and braced my Landing Net at first sight it looked like a 30lb common but after putting her on the scales she fell just short at 29lb 2oz, still a lovely fish... I wanted some good pictures so i popped her in the Nash Safety Sack for some morning shots...
After 2 cast's i had the rod back on the spot and was confident of another take before sunrise.. And i wasn't Wrong as the same rod flew into action at 3.30 and landed me another Common this time a 25lber..
After a very active night, 6.00am come and my alarm went off.. Time to pack up get home have a shower and off to work for the day...
At least i spent the following day smiling... :-)
